Thomas Gillan, CLET, CSTS, CFS, CLC

Director, Central Florida Police Stress Unit

Thomas Gillan is Executive Director of The National Institute for Human Trafficking Research and Training. Thomas served 20 years as Director of The Criminal Justice Office for the Diocese of Orlando. Thomas Gillan holds a degree in Broadcast Communication and has extensive training and experience in the following areas: Law Enforcement Stress, Trauma, and Suicide Awareness and Prevention, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Peer Support, Crisis/ Hostage Negotiation, Compassion Fatigue, Life Coaching and Human Trafficking. He is currently pursuing certification in Addiction and Substance Abuse Counseling. Thomas is a certified Stress and Trauma Specialist, Compassion Fatigue Specialist, Personal Life Coach and Motivational Speaker. Thomas Gillan has provided trainings and presentations for Federal and State Law Enforcement Agencies and Officers, Non-Governmental and Faith-Based Organizations, Medical and Health Care Providers, and Colleges and Universities across the country.

In 1992, Thomas Gillan developed a stress and critical incident response program for law enforcement personnel known as the Central Florida Police Stress Unit. The program provides a confidential response and educational programs for law enforcement agencies, officers and their families. He is a founding member and served as Executive Director for the Central Florida Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors for 11 years -responding to the needs of Law Enforcement In-Line of Duty Death Survivors – a volunteer position.
